Mercia B just edged out Lichfield B in a Division 2 game with Adam Routledge’s defeat on board two the decisive point. Adam goi in a tangle, lost three pawns and was unabe to find any counterpay. Given more thinking time Gary Monks might have turned his exchange and pawn into a win, but had to settle for a draw on board three.

David Fone was on the defensive in an equal position but it went down to Bishops and pawns in the end game, His opponent managed to get his pawns on the same colour as his Bishop and the game was drawn. David Hulme on board one also drew his game on board one. (Match played 12th January)
