First Division team now in a safe place

Birmingham League Division 1

Lichfield’s first team are now in mid table and surely safe from relegation worries after their 4-2 victory over Wolverhampton. Lichfield produced a strong performance in winning at Wolverhampton. Gradings were pretty even on each board.

John Keaveney was first to finish, agreeing a draw against Nicolas Walker and it was followed by wins for David Hulme (after a neat tactic that won him a couple of pawns), Adam Routledge (after a complex middlegame which left him with a pawn on the 7th) and Richard Anderson (who neatly converted a pawn advantage in the endgame).

With those wins on the bottom three boards the match was now secure but Wolverhampton fought back with Maurice Staples losing in a very complex position and Ben Nevett-Farman held to a draw. (Match played 2nd March)
