Missed fork cost game and match

John Fryer’s opponent went a pawn up with a superior position by mid game. Then a series of quite reasonable moves suddenly gave John an opportunity and a missed fork was conclusive.

That point enabled Lichfield’s 2B team to win the match against Tamworth 3-1. Another vital point was earned by Adam who is on a three match winning streak which has enabled him to draw level with Albert Chacko on the Ladder Board . His match went the full distance but Adam had a strong positional advantage when his opponent’s flag dropped.

The third winner was skipper Peter Rose who romped home win in 23 moves with a strong Kingside attack. The only match lost was on board one where David Hulme had a cramped position from the opening moves. (Match played 13th November)
