Newcomer starts with a win

Matthew Blackwell, one of two players who have joined Lichfield from Rushall started on board 2 with a victory which helped his new club to a 2.5 – 1.5 win over Redditch.

Albert Chacko rattled off another win on board one to push his grading close on 1600 and took him to top of the Ladder Board while John Fryer gained a two pawn advantage but suffering from tiredness and in a complicated position with two Rooks on the 7th rank against two connected Knights he offered a draw which clinched the match for Lichfield. Peter Rose lost on board three.
