Success story set to continue
Chairman David Fone’s idea for an internal ECF rated Swiss tournament always was an imaginative idea and it is proving even more successful than Lichfield Chess Club officials dared hope.
First of all 30 of the club’s 53 members entered and after three months and three months only one person has dropped out and that was because of unavoidable work commitments.
Albert Chacko leads with a maximum three points after his shock win over tournament favourite Mircea Mesesan and there are four players on two and a half points, tournament organiser David Fone himself, Brian Homewood, John Fryer and Peter Rose.
