Combined team’s C side easily outrank Lichfield and Burton B

Apart from an evenly matched board one game between Adam Routledge and John Hoddy, the Lichfield and Burton B team was heavily outrated by Lichfield and Burton B so the C team’s 2.5 – 1.5 win was hardly a surprise.

After Adam had collected a draw on board one, Brian Homewood completely missed a move which unfortunately led to the threat of losing a major piece, a pawn and a dominating position. Brian resigned against Anushka Ramawickrama.Ryan Smith outplayed Mike Hoare on board 2 in the late middle game and left facing inevitable defeat.

Board 4 was a well balanced game between Matthew Benfield and Munteanu Dragos-George but Matthew benefitted from some poorly calculated end game moves leaving him with a protected pawn that he was going to Queen. (Match played 22nd January).
