Yuriy Slobodyuk met a much higher graded opponent on board one, lost a pawn in the opening and never recovered. Gary Monks was also up against a much higher rated opponent on board two, yet battled hard to earn a draw.
The bottom two boards belonged to Lichfield. Albert Chacko’s game looked really complicated, that was until Albert launched a devastating Kingside attack which led to this opponent resigning.
