Great win takes Lichfield 2B to top spot
Cannocl league Dvision2
David Hulme overcame a 100 point rating disadvantage and black colours to take Lichfield 2B to the top of Cannock League two, reversing a defeat with Rushall earlier in the season. It was the final match to finish so he had all the pressure.
Peter Rose on board two built up a solid advantage on the Queenside and picked up an isolated pawn and gave himself two connected pass pawns. It looked good until his opponent built a strong Kingside attack which Peter was unable to repel,
Brian Homewood drew on board three and Adam Routledge won his game, establishing a nice position with a lot of control and led to a number of tactical opportunities.
The top of the table is now wide open with Lichfield leading Lichfield A and Stafford by two points, but having played two more games. Lichfield A and Stafford have yet to play each other so there is an exckiting finish in prospect with the A team in prime position to land a fatal blow to Stafford’s hopes, letting in both Lichfield teams.
