Lichfield sweep Mercia aside to gain promotion

Lichfield completed an excellent season by defeating Mercia 4.5 – 1.5 and clinch promotion to Division 2 behind runaway leaders University who have been able to draw on a very strong squad this year. Lichfield finished a point behind University with a season total of 21 points, well clear of the other leading teams.

Adam Routledge, John Staniforth and David Pickering all won their games and Albert Chacko, Tony Green and Mike Hoare all drew. (Match played 8th April).
