B5s unbeaten record maintained

It was a closely fought match but Lichfield’s B5 team came through the clash with Walsall Kipping it to stay top of the league with an unbeaten record

For most of their games David Fone and Bob Frost were very even against their opponents on boards two and three but they secured significant time advantages. Very slightly down David agreed a draw whilst Rob capitalised on a mistake to beat a very experienced opponent.

Stephen Smithson built a positional advantage and then his opponent fought back strongly until Stephen launched two rooks on open files, grabbed a Bishop on the 7th rank and forced mate in two. Albert Chacko’s recent run of losses continued on board one.
