Combined team facing likely relegation from Division 2

The Lichfield/Burton combined team had a disappointing loss to Rolls Royce D with the club’s star performer this season, Adam Routledge losing unexpetedly on board one despite a substantial rating advantage. A run of wins had taken Adam’s rating up to 1900. This defeat by 2.5 – 1.5puts the combineds team into relegation danger.

Worse was to follow. Skipper Brian Homewood moved a Knight and it cost him a Queen to a Bishop. Gary Monks was in a closely contested game and a draw was agreed .The only real bright spot came from Mike Hoare who benefitted from his opponent losing his Queen and yet had to repel a strong attack to win the game.
